2020 29 x 12 x 2 inches, unrolledAcrylic and sumi ink on 4 layers of painted polyesterMounted as hanging scroll with box. John Milton’s Elegiac Verses of 1625 are the primary text and also in binary code. The poem begins with ‘Arise, haste arise!’ announcing that the day is beginning and it is time to shake off slumbers. However our digital world allows us to work all day and through the darkest night. Sonnet XIX and a passage from Paradise Lost are also lettered on the scroll.
